Set of Four Oak Staircase Balusters – Former Scottish Conservative Club, Princes Street, Edinburgh K171

£995.00

An exceptional set of four reclaimed oak staircase balusters, believed to originate from the grand staircase of the former Scottish Conservative Club at 112 Princes Street, Edinburgh.

These substantial balusters feature elegant turned shafts above finely carved acanthus leaf decoration, retaining their original dark stained finish. The set comprises two landing balusters with square tops and two staircase balusters with angled tops, demonstrating how they were originally positioned along the staircase and adjoining landing.

Historic archive photographs of the Conservative Club's celebrated timber staircase show balusters of the same distinctive design, providing a fascinating connection to one of Edinburgh's most prominent Victorian club buildings.

Beautiful examples of Victorian craftsmanship, they would make a striking addition to a restoration project, period interior, commercial fit-out, table legs or collection of architectural antiques.
