Payment must be received and cleared by us in full prior to collection or delivery of any item. In the unlikely event of any items being released prior to payment, said item/s will remain our property until payment is received.

If you have purchased original items please check them fully to ensure you are 100% happy with their uniqueness prior to purchase.  Most items are over 100 years old and thus have varying degrees of character!  Once you have purchased the items they are non returnable unless proven faulty.

You have seven days from the date of purchase (not collection or delivery) to cancel this order or return any item that has not been fitted, altered or damaged by you or your contractor.  No item may be returned unless it is in the condition you received it. Any refund will be made after inspection and only at our discretion within 7 days of return.

Bespoke items cannot be returned unless the fault is ours.  Any error in measurement by you or your contractor is considered your error and thus the item not returnable.  Any measurement given to us must be in writing!

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all orders must be collected within 7 days of completion. We reserve the right to charge a £10 per week per item storage charge for items not collected.  If you have not taken delivery of the goods within 30 working days of us informing you that they are ready for collection, we may resell or otherwise dispose of the goods. Any refund will be at our sole discretion and no liability for any losses accepted by us.

All quotes and prices given are valid for 7 days.

Delivery

Many of our items are valuable and one of a kind, so we try to avoid using any of the big companies when it comes to delivering our large architectural antiques. Smaller items may be sent via. Royal Mail or APC.

Please feel free to get in touch and let us know what you require, and we'll do our best to help.

For deliveries in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas we recommend Bart - 07901825638

For national deliveries we recommend Chris Hodge from Gear Shifters - 07979 603 390

For international deliveries we recommend Pack & Send - edinburgheast@packsend.co.uk / 0131 201 2244

All of these drivers have worked with us before, and are very good at what they do.

You are welcome to organise your own courier through a service like Shiply or AnyVan, but we can't vouch for any of those drivers.

We do not carry out the installation work!  This is sub contracted to a competent, trusted and experienced contractor.   Payment for Installation or any other associated work is due to him directly.  Any technical questions pre, during or post instal must be directed to him as he is the expert in this field.  We are not liable for any issue that may arise between you.

Any showroom example or sales brochure is provided only to give you an approximate idea of the Goods they describe. They do not form part of this agreement unless a specific showroom item has been purchased.

Many of our products are made from natural materials such as marble, slate or limestone and thus any small change in the colour, design, material or pattern between the showroom display or sales material and the goods purchased by you shall not entitle you to refuse the items and we shall not be liable for any such variation. Natural products crack easily and thus may be filled to strengthen them or improve them visually.  Such filling of cracks or chips is not considered a fault!

Cast iron items are one offs as are the antique items we sell. Imperfections are present in all castings and thus considered unique to each item.  All are hand finished therefore differences from anything you have seen before may be present.  A difference is not considered a fault and therefore not returnable for this reason.

If you have selected original items please check them fully to ensure you are 100% happy with their uniqueness prior to purchase.  Most items are over 100 years old and thus have varying degrees of character!  Once you have purchased the items they are non returnable unless proven faulty.

You must inspect the goods on receipt and prior to installation!  Any defect or concern must be reported to us before fitting to allow us to remedy it.  we will not be liable for any losses (re-installation, redecoration etc) incurred as a result of your failure to inspect the goods prior to installation.

Some chipping of the edges of the external returns of legs, back edges of shelves, back panels and slips during transit or fitting is possible. These edges should be hidden when rebated behind the fireplace opening or chased into the wall. Again, this will not be a defect in the Goods provided such chips are not detrimental to the finished overall appearance of the fireplace.
Quarrying and cutting involves large quantities of water which is absorbed by stone. This will result in variations in colour while drying. Shade variations may be evident after fitting as water is used during installation. In time stone will dry to a reasonably uniform appearance. Drying out times depend on the stone thickness, room ambience and installation procedure. Variations in colour due to water absorption shall not be deemed a defect of the Goods.

Fuel bed ceramics used in gas fires may crack in use due to natural shrinkage and this is normal. Carbon deposits are a normal by-product of the combustion process and pebble ceramics may be affected.

Fires, stoves and associated parts are considered working parts and thus will become worn and require maintenance. They are subject to extremely high temperatures and flaking paint, minor cracks, carbon deposits and other signs of wear are to be expected.  High temperature paint, zebo, slate oil and other maintenance products can be purchased from us or elsewhere.  Gas appliances should be serviced each year by a gas safe technician.

Using unapproved fuel will result in overheating and damage your fire/stove.  Only high quality fuel from reputable suppliers should be used – any damaged items will not be replaced free of charge. Please keep your fuel receipts to prove the quality of fuel used.  Flues should be inspected regularly to ensure safe and thus keep your home insurance valid.

We reserve the right to cancel your Order if we have inadequate stock to fulfil your Order.

If an Order is cancelled by us, if payment has been made by you, we will refund any amount paid by you.

These terms and conditions may be amended, added to or changed at any time - please check our website for a full up to date version.

Fitting - What to expect

Please discuss the fitting with the fire fitter so that you are well prepared for what lies ahead.  Fitting fires and stoves is generally a very dirty, messy, noisy process and thus all items should be removed from the room and neighbours warned of potential disturbance.  Ideally the room and any adjoining room or passage way should be cleared prior to fireplace installation! if this is not possible, please ensure everything is protected en-route to the fire and there is a large protected space around the fire opening to give the fitters room to work.

After fitting, the fire/stove must not be used for a minimum of three days and only small fires should be built for the first few weeks to avoid any damage.  Ignoring this advice will result in damage to fitted goods and they will not be replaced free of charge.

If you are having a gas burner installed it will be fitted by a Gas Safe installer as soon as possible after the installation and payment made to him directly.

Cast Iron Radiators

Sold as Seen radiators are untested, and should be pressure tested before installing. They come with no guarantee, and are not returnable.

Radiator restorations are carried out by Henderson's Metal Cleaning, and you will need to contact them direct for all enquiries. We only take payment for the radiator, and the cost of restoration is paid direct to Henderson's. We can organise delivery of the radiators to Hendersons for around £30, depending on the number and size of radiators ordered.
