Mid-Century Wrought Iron Wall Mirror K142

£375.00

A handsome wrought iron wall mirror featuring an elegant hand-forged style frame with decorative scrollwork, fleur-de-lis inspired detailing and a quality bevelled mirror plate.

Reclaimed from a substantial private residence in the Mortonhall area of Edinburgh, this striking mirror offers both decorative appeal and practical functionality. The black wrought iron frame displays attractive twisted detailing around the border, whilst the ornate crest provides a strong architectural presence.

Interestingly, newspaper clippings dating from around 1950 were discovered within the frame, having been used as packing behind the glass. Whilst this does not conclusively date the mirror itself, it strongly suggests the piece was assembled, glazed or installed by the mid-twentieth century, adding an intriguing element to its history.

The mirror remains in good condition and would make an attractive addition to a hallway, entrance vestibule, living room or garden room. Its proportions allow it to work equally well as a statement feature or as part of a larger decorative scheme.
