A rare antique ceramic infant feeding vessel known as The Arnold Foster Mother. Registered design No. 605991, early 20th century. These were designed as early nursing aids, providing a hygienic way to feed infants before modern bottles and teats became commonplace.
The stoneware pot has four lugs around the base for attaching rubber feeding tubes, and twin carrying handles at the top. The glaze is a soft speckled cream, with the original printed maker’s mark on the side.
